Music saves lives (#musicsaveslives)...yes, it really does! Messy Blue-Heart♡ is an independent Americana/ Pop rock singer, songwriter, music producer and recording artist, and she is living proof and a testamony of the healing power of music. Messy was born in south Texas on October 9, 1975 and her family moved her to western Arkansas in 1984 at a very young age. She grew up in Arkansas, attended college there, later raised 2 boys, as she was the sole provider and a single mother. Messy has her own unique, soulful sound that is influenced by a mix of musical genres, inspired by pop rock , Rhythm & blues, 90's grunge rock, blues rock and good ole' classic rock n' roll.
When she was a young girl, she would often dream that she would have an all girl punk rock band and some day have a successful music career. Little did she know, that 25 years later, she would revisit these dreams and decide to pursue them after all these years later.
Messy had to work hard her whole life to do what was needed to provide for the boys. Often doing whatever she had to do to take care of her own. She took whatever job she could, at times worked 2 to 3 jobs at a time, worked and attended college, sold her paintings, crafts, and hustled any way she could to make a few extra bucks, all this just to barely make ends meet.
In early 2017, Messy was diagnosed with fibromyalgia, a widespread chronic pain disorder that came with many different symptoms and complications, that has no cure. For the first couple of years, she didn't know how to deal with the intense and high levels of pain that was making her life more than complicated. At that time, the pain was so excruciating and hardly even eased up during the first year, so she stayed in the comforts of her bed for the better part of that year. Her doctor tried to help but each time he prescribed a new medication that was supposed to help with the fibromyalgia, yet each time came a severe reaction or side effect from that drug. After 2 years and about a dozen failed medications,one which caused seizures, Messy was about to give up all hope for relief from this. She soon slipped into a state of depression and she struggled more and more each day. It was so much that she even considered taking her own life. She used music therapy, journaling, and bought a cheap, used acoustic guitar with intent to learn some chords and write just one song, for her boys. She relied on God to guide her through each day. Headphones and spotify playlists became essential tools to getting through the day.
After this time, with no other prescription medication options left to try, her doctor decided to prescribe medical marijuana. He said that this would help with the fibromyalgia pain and would be good for her PTSD, depression, and anxiety. It was pretty much instantly as she could tell that the pain wasn't so intense and she was able to do more and more things on a daily basis. Medical marijuana seemed to work better than anything else that her doctor had previously prescribed, but was not a cure by any means. This wonderful flower had transformed her life into a healthier, happier,and more active one, without any of those harsh side effects from prescription medications.
She says, she owes it all to, "God, medical marijuana, and music, because these things were there for me when no one else was!" "God gave me a new purpose to share my music to help others with whatever they may be going through or dealing with, to help them with their healing process." Music helped carried her through the darkest time in her life and now she is on a mission to spread love and healing through her music. She believes we all need to learn how to heal ourselves each and every day, and believes music is the key. She also said that she has learned that even on the worst day, there is always something beautiful to learn about yourself.
She is passionate about music because it is an essential, powerful tool and it's uses as therapy can mend a broken heart, ease the pain, calm your anxiety, and can even save a life...just as it has hers.
She is an activist, and believes in fighting for good causes, humanity, and to save our planet. She supports many good causes such as, suicide prevention, fibromyalgia awareness, mental health awareness, disabilities awareness, medical marijuana, anti-bullying campaign, the military and veterans, PTSD awareness, animal rights, and she is a global Citizen/ activist who loves to recycle and protect the earth.
As a new independent music artist, Messy Blue-Heart♡, is currently recording covers while she works on her first debut album and the release of some new single original songs and her first ever original music video for her single coming late Oct 2022. In the beginning of June 2021, she is re- releasing her first self produced song, " I don't know why my guitar feels so blue", acoustic version, originally released in June of 2018. She is currently reworking a new, full version of the song, retitled " I know why my guitar feels blue...released in June of 2021.
